Sixteen journalists have been recognised with the Migration Media Award for their noteworthy contributions to reporting on migration issues.
Introduced in 2015, the Migration Media Awards aim to honour excellence in journalism within the migration sector. Funded by the European Union (EU), this year marks the ninth edition of the awards, which celebrate impactful reporting in the public interest.
Michael Miller, the EU Head of Delegation and Ambassador to Bangladesh, served as the chief guest at the award ceremony, held at the AS Mahmud Seminar Hall of the Daily Star building in Dhaka on Sunday, 15 December 2024.
The awards were presented to the winners by Ambassador Miller, with Mahfuz Anam, Editor and Publisher of Bangladesh’s leading English daily, The Daily Star, and Mohammad Shaheen, ndc, Joint Secretary (Development Division) of the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, attending as special guests.
Asif Saleh, Executive Director of BRAC, chaired the event, which was also attended by the competition’s judges and representatives from various national and international organisations.
